Air conditioning can make your vehicle a much nicer place to be in the summer, but it needs regular maintenance to keep it working well. We can recharge air conditioning refrigerant for any make and model at our Eynsham workshop near Witney.
Your air con should be serviced and recharged every 2-3 years. This keeps your air conditioning blowing ice cold in the summer and helps to dry the air and clear your windscreen in the winter. If your air conditioning isn’t working properly, it may need to be regassed.
An air con recharge and service involves replacing the refrigerant gas that makes the system work, as well as cleaning out any harmful bacteria, mould, spores and allergens that can build up. This makes sure that the air in your cabin is clean and free from smells, particles and pathogens that can make you ill.
Servicing your air conditioning also keeps the system in good condition. The compressors, seals and other moving parts in the system require lubrication to prevent them from premature wear, which can lead to leaking gases and failure. A regular service ensures that your air con keeps you cool when you need it and prevents the need for more costly repairs in future. All of our air conditioning technicians are fully qualified and receive regularly training to keep their knowledge up to date.
Air conditioning usually uses chemicals called hydrofluorocarbons as the refrigerant, which cools the air. Some hydrofluorocarbons are incredibly bad for the environment. They are known as ‘greenhouse supergasses’ because of the huge impact they have on global warming.
At Liam Kenny Motor Body Repairs we use air conditioning gasses that have been proven to have a minimal effect on the environment wherever possible. For newer cars we can supply the R1234yf refrigerant, which has a very low Global Warming Potential and a very short life in the atmosphere.
